In my previous works, I tried to forcefully mix field recordings with drones and melodies. However, the term "円融無碍" taught me that such an approach is a mistake in itself.
"円融無碍" is a Buddhist term, and the Japanese dictionary says that it means "all things are perfectly compatible with each other and do not interfere with each other". Two things with different characteristics can achieve harmony by not interfering with each other. I believe that John Cage, who was influenced by Oriental philosophy, focused on "silence" and incorporated it as "sound" because he found a way to take advantage of this way of perceiving things. For example, a long silence between two chords that would be discordant if heard in succession can eliminate the sense of discomfort.
However, this is not possible when the two sounds are heard side by side. Therefore, in this work, all sounds were intended to be subdued rather than assertive, and care was taken not to let them interfere with each other. I simply adjusted the overall balance by lowering the volume, but I thought that the low overall volume itself could be a third party as a mediator that melds the field recordings and the drone.
As for the drones, I wanted to place them without arbitrariness if possible, but I dared to consciously place drones with compatible tones as a challenge for the next work. As for the field recordings, I am generally satisfied with them, because unintended sounds can be recorded every time.
You can listen to this work for the purpose of active listening, or you can listen to it to facilitate some kind of work or to induce sleep. I would be honored if it could be a work of art that surrounds people, as the original word "ambient" implies.

Meditative in the best sense of the word. You can barely sense as the sounds subtly shift through each track in an amazing way. A master of the ambient craft. underneathoceans
